An eerie deathmatch experience with ambient music and effects

This is a project i've been working on for a few months now.

It delivers an eerie depressive deathmatch experience with its ambient looks and music events. It's large size and design is suited so player encounters are not as frequent as in other maps, developing more of an eerie ambience and an encounter having a higher impact value than usual.

The environment can be interacted with to change paths or activate certain events and sequences.

Playing on this map is an intense but tiring experience, so a fun map after this one is advised.

The width is 300 pixels right now.

As for the map, it is quite impressive considering it's running on the HL1:S engine. It looks as good as a Source based game and the song is quite nice. Did you compose the song yourself?

Alright, i'm sorry. Is the video at the largest size without stretching the page right now?

DevNotes

  1. Sept. 27 I made some quick fixes, and i released the map! A HL2DM version is also in progress. Enjoy the map!

2009. Sept. 26

I added another nice cinematic effect that is one of the "misteries" the ruins hold. I will keep what it is a secret for now, but i will make a video of it soon. I also managed to get the file size as low as 12mb so it's under the default net_maxfilesize and i tend to keep it that way. If all goes well i will be able to release the first beta of the map today or tomorrow.

2009.Sept.24 I added the newest and final area to the map. Unfortunately my map is hitting the max. map faces limit. I had to delete the decorations on the sides in the ruins part because they were consuming too many faces. It seems ok now, but i should be careful from now on.

2009.Aug.1 There was a big step forward in the map in form of a complete re-optimization. Now every object fades away after a certain distance, however this is barely noticable. Additionally, a big step was made by fixing the leaks and properly sealing the map(as it was only sealed in a big box before), decreasing the map space by about 50%, and by binding a lot of objects to func_details, dramatically decreasing compile time increasing performance, and lowering the amount/chances of graphical bugs and lag.
